full frame or crop
i do not know what to do!
crop i save $1K which allows me to get the macro lens I'm eyeing
full frame I have full frame!
Nope, I'm a Canon. And I completely agree that glass is worth more weight than body. Considering I prefer macro photography to wide angle I think the crop factor is a benefit. But the sensor on a full frame is just better. As a photographer you may cringe, but the video capture on the 7d is really nice, better than the 5d Mark II. With all the bugs I shoot, being able to screw around with actually filming them scurry about is exciting.Sundowner wrote:Its a tricky dilema. I think the real reason to go full frame is to utilize all the pro glass thats geared towards 35mm(especially so for wide angle) and the low light advantage. But Im always one to argue for glass over camera and in the case of either owning or not owning a macro lens, that makes it even harder to decide. Are you shooting Nikon? If so the 55mm 2.8 macro is pretty much as good as it gets for macro and it sells for less than $200 on ebay and is pretty easy to find at camera stores that sell used gear. Its manual focus, but for macro work thats pretty much what you want since auto focus doesn't help much when you're shooting on a tripod and likely using a remote trigger.

Still, build a system around a full sized sensor. I just think the babies are going the way of the DODO and I'd hate you to be left with a bunch of lenses that are useless on a full frame sensor. You KNOW the L series are going to hold value, and what are you really saving on the body? Less than a grand? That's peanuts.
