how close do you look at your food? sometimes it's better to back off a bit, turn off the lights, an d light candles.

leftover pork tenderloin, salad, scotch, and toast and marmalade. the marmalade was a mystery mason jar in the cupboard. not sure who made it.

lucky lucky to find food like that. the meat's pretty much gone but we're in marmalade for at least a week.

salad dressing recipe- oil, vinegar, and lemon juice, plus blueberries- late season and shriveled - sugar, salt and pepper. shake that bastard mix in a mustard jar that you can't get any more mustard out of. it will go blue, and seems to deal well with being heated in the microwave as the fat separates in the fridge.

I think microwaves do bad things to food. And so does nonstick cookware.

fresh figs+vinegar + honey. these figs were kind of past perfect, so when squeezed at the stem, they didn';t exhale like a breath of figs, but kind of smooshed instead. so each of the four pieces of fig became like a little leaf, say, that had fallen off that fig. and somehow got covered in vinegar and honey.

this could make an islander fat, if they lived on an island covered with figs, vinegar and honey.

tonight i had cabbage rolls with cheese. never tried that before. different than tomatoes.

are people seriously concerned with the effects of microwaves? as if our brains are being fried every time we heat up a cup of tea. it's like ahmadenijad's version of september 11, compelling in its own weirdly surrealist way, but not seeming entirely in touch with its own surrealism.

Microwaves and nonstickcookware are no-no in my casa. Cumulative effects of regular use, etc.

The garlic/onion caramlized goo at the bottom was outstanding. Big Green Egg, so good for everything.
