2nd photo, what's on the hillside in the distance? Looks like terraced farming of sorts.

The mountainsides of the Cinque Terre are heavily terraced and are used to cultivate grapes and olives.

incredible! And this is from someone who rarely east olives of any kind in the states. An olive purist will hate this, but one thing i tried that was surprisingly tasty, deep fried, stuffed olives! Thin crust pizza, olives, capers and anchovies! FUCK ME!

The monorail system used for the "vertical vineyards" is pretty amazing too.
