I think what Gorilla is implying is that only a fool would buy such an expensive piece of equipment that will be worthless a few years down the road in order to shoot film. Also, you remove the development process, where your exposure and contrast is tweaked to make a pretty picture. Then again, you may be a fool, and you may have a large wad of money that you want to waste. If the latter is the case I humbly suggest a round-trip ticket to vegas, an eightball, and a whore. If you're not too picky on the whore you should have plenty of money left over for food and a few souvenirs.
If you have old slides and film negatives, take them to a professional to be scanned, just as Gorilla said.
