Really? Does doping count as sportsmanlike? Cause that doesn't seem like fair play.

As long as they are all doping, it's fair. And they are.

The gap was 13 seconds when they went over the top. Maybe if Schleck hadn't descended like a massive girl he wouldn't have lost so much time. If Cadel had reacted the way Schleck did, you'd all be calling him a whinger. It's bad luck, suck it up, princess.

Moot point, it would never happen to Cadel, Andy Shleck was attacking when his chain popped not wheel sucking.

This whole chaingate thing will only make for better racing over the next 2 days..........

When he won the world road race championship last year he went out on his own with 30km to go. Just so you know.

If the same thing happened to Cadel I would still think Alberto was a doosh.

Lance won a 100 mile mountain bike race last year doing 60 miles of it alone with the last 7 or so miles being on a flat, finishing 30 minutes ahead of the 2nd place guy AND beating the previous record by 15 minutes. Blah blah blah

Just so you know, we are talking TDF. Cadel is a talented rider but he has proven over the years he can't attack the mountain stages in the TDF,

This.

Schleck probably dropped the chain because of a missed shift. The point is that Alberto gave up the chance to win like a champion and instead reveals some of his fear of Schleck.

Cadel is a great bike rider and it sucks that he went out like that, but he will never be strong enough to crush the tour de france. He gets dropped by the big boys as soon as they start dialing up the pressure.

That whole "sportsmanship" thing that some think should rule bike racing is merely a occasional agreement among the most elite riders. Further down in the pack there are no favors. It two men agree to hold to a special rule, that is only up to them, it is not a requirement. It is a bike race, not a beauty pagent.

These are the most elite riders. If you are in contention for the GC jersey you aren't supposed to take advantage of mechanical problems. It's not a rule, just the right thing to do. I guess Alberto thinks he needs every edge he can get to beat the mighty Schleck.

Go Lance.

So, Schleck attacks in the wrong gear, and 20 ft up the road needs to shift. He blows the shift, and Contador responds to the attack. It wasn't a mechanical, it was a blown shift. Game on.

Why didn't S. shift before attacking? Because C. would have noticed it and responded immediately. S. took a chance and it didn't work out for him. That's racing.

Again, it wasn't a mechanical. That's what a flat tire is. Itwas just a chance taken by Schleck that didn't work out to his advantage.

Contador saw the chain off and went full out no matter what he claims about not knowing Schleck was having mechanical problems, unless he thought AS was practicing track stands I am not buying it. It is certainly within the rules to do take advantage of leader in that situation, so yea it is fair play by all means. Ethically? Who really knows outside the riders themselves and I am betting that isn't close to a consensus.

Thursday's results should either make the chain incident a big deal or of no consequence in TDF history, all of which makes for a more entertaining race day. I hope they both attack all the way up til one or both of their hearts explode.

Why does that not even seem impressive to me? Gyroscope and pedaling should be easy enough to integrate.
