PM me - would be happy to chat on a phone call and give you the lay of the land perspective from a quasi-retired climber who has been everywhere in the state. Suggest you join the Facebook group Phoenix Climbing Scene. Fairly active. Actually a variety of folks who have posted on b.com at sometime in the history of the forum. Focus is the best bouldering gym in the valley but may not be convenient depending on where you end up living. The greater phx area is huge. Some outdoor "bouldering" in town - s. mtn is passable for desperate junkies , various choss strewn around - beardsley boulders (sweet effing xmas baby jesu), camelback (lol, packed mud), Icecapades / ice castles (rofl - have been shot at there), Mcdowells (better known for slab trad climbing but plenty of granite, no good bouldering concentration but a helluva hiking workout) Some stuff out toward granite mtn. Oak flats, sharp as shit volcanic tuft, soon to be a giant copper mine is to the east 60-100 mins, again depending on where you live. Superstitions have seen some development in recent years, sharp, bee (double entendre intended) prepared to hike. Prescott (very good, imo) granite and Sedona sandstone (good) to the north.
