Assembled my Trager smoker this weekend. Planning on doing some baby-backs this Wednesday and a pork shoulder this weekend. How is the crib mobile beer can thingy doing?

Make your own beer can plane.

I want a smoker. Can't get one in this small-ass German apartment.

easy way to make a smoker is to bury an old cast iron stove in a sandy bank, run 2 lengths of stove pipe through the sand to cool the smoke a bit, and punch the stove pipe up through the bottom of a 45 gallon drum. holes in the sides of the drum, tie rods through the holes to support bbq grills at various levels. top with plywood to hold the smoke in. that said, difficult to pull off in an apartment...

...or go big and build a communal neighbourhood smokehouse. there's a full design for one in this book, "smoke" by tim byres. if you're going to spend a day smoking fish and whatnot and drinking beer might as well cook lots with company.
