BVB

super sad to learn that our old washed up sparkle jockey stepped off this mortal coil this morning. I thought I would come to the place many of us first met that former and only b.com n00b of the year so we could share words and shit.

So hi, and damn.

Peace out BVB. Thanks for leaving us a bounty of bouldering areas and a dearth of guidebooks.

I sadly never got to meet the Legend in person, But I had many good conversations with him online. He was fucking sharp, and articulate. Its a shame his taste in music was so pedestrian

Damn is right.

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done.

Glad I got the chance to meet and climb with BVB, always strange to think someone is gone and you'll never have the chance to say just hi, to build new memories or to reminiscence about days gone by. I regret not getting up to Flag a few more times and spending a few more lazy alpine summer afternoons shooting the shit and testing age weary tendons climbing chossy slabs on Mt. Elden with BVB. When someone passes, for me it's always a splash of cold water in the face, a bracing tonic. Time is precious, yours and others lives are fragile and fleeting, go spend some time with loved ones and check off another thing or two you've always wanted to do.

Sad to hear the passing. But what a full life! He certainly did make this shithole worth visiting every now and then.

we were only a coupe years apart. he left us WAY TOO soon. He left children. As a parent, I struggle with that fact.

why do those with unique talent self-destruct so?

I was a true climbing and b.com n00b when I met him. He judged nothing when we climbed. We climbed together many times all over flag, woody mtn road and J-Tree.

we made many promises the past two years to spend time together. He was insistent.
I pinged him every time I went to San Diego, but he would be MIA and non-responsive, often due to being in ICU.

really wanted to make that connection.

Just seeing this way too late.

Luckily, I got to climb with him in AZ and his green hat for a weekend years ago. We drank beer and bouldered on shitty sharp boulders that are now a copper quarry. Stood around a campfire and had some LOLs with folks I've always wanted to meet.
