I have a das keyboard with the clickity clackity keys. It is one of my favorite things ever. EVER. I can't stand working on non-mechanical keyboards, stupid squishy keys, all floppy and useless. Reminds me of elblat for some reason.

Elblat? Allegedly we live in the same nerd town in the mountains, but I'll believe it when I see it... next Saturday.

Lox - Any experience or thoughts on the Topre boards? Looking at their Realforce 87 45 gram board. But would love to hear first hand experience or touch one myself before hitting that 1 click order button. Searching around it doesn't look like there is a ton of keycap sets specific to the board. Alternative, more mainstream would be the Das Keyboard 4 Pro.
Would be using primarily for typing, not gaming so don't need macro's or epileptic inducing RGB LED capabilities.

First off, I do not have experience using the topre switches or realforce boards.

Everything I read suggests that the switches are good and both the realforce and happy hacking pro 2 boards get a lot of rave reviews. I think the bottom line is that any board with mechanical keys is better than a stock rubberdome dell. Topre has a rubber dome in the key, so some 'purists' say they aren't a true mechanical keyboard. But fuck those hataz.

What do you want it for? You want a board that is silky smooth while typing that you can buy an occasional accent cap or even a tasteful artisan cap for... get the realforce 87 and don't worry too much about keycap set availability. If you want something a bit more streamlined, look at the happy hacking. I did.

Ultimately, I wanted more programmability in the board and less board around the keys, so now i have vortex boards. For cherry switches and clones, you can buy keycaps in various looks and profiles, which is nice but its not like you do it all the time. I got a board and cap set that meet my needs and look good and now I just type the shit outta it.

It's like shoes or a mattress... if you're gonna use it 8 or more hours a day, invest in a quality product that feels good to use and looks badass.

dipped a toe in the water and picked up a Ducky One TKL with Cherry MX Blues. It was in MK.com's warehouse for $79 with a 30 day warranty so I figure I can't go wrong.

I've been 100% spoiled by Amazon Prime. When my keyboard shipped, I thought it should be here tomorrow! It didn't show up so I checked the tracking number. Next Tuesday. Moving slower than a herd of white walkers shambling towards the wall for a couple of seasons.

Well, it's the Eid al-Adha weekend so it makes sense it will take a little longer.

keyboard has arrived, now I guess I should finally learn how to type with all ten fingers and not just hunt and peck with 4. Oh and fuck, I started looking into artisan keys... down the rabbit hole.

Well now that you have posted in it, it probably is...

Jlane... how you like them feelz? I like what some peeps do with artisans but I'm not that into them on my office workspace. I did get a custom printed maxkey with my agency logo on it, which will be nice if I ever go back to cherry profile. And considering how much I like DSA and the fact that mx clears feel so nice, it's a big 'if'. I think I am going down the zealios rabbit hole once I get all my office/travel boards sorted and I can buy a board to pimp tf out.

Loving it so far. Going to have to get a travel bag to take it with me on the road. Can't imagine sullying my fingers touching a membrane keyboard ever again.
