mechanical keyboards

So I'm into this thing for a bit of cash, but i consider it an investment in the future considering how long the switches last. I got a Pok3r for €140 and then a set of Overcast DSA keycaps in white alphas/blumods with orange 1337 keys. This was about a hundred dollars. Plus I got some keycaps printed with the logo of the agency I work for. I had all these shipped to an address in the states because the shipping to Germany was outrageous. I'll post some pics when I swap the keycaps. I'm waiting to buy any more keycaps to see how I like the DSA profile. There are different profiles, but DSA is pretty middle of the road so I'll try it before I invest in a profile that is more for typing. Oh and I also spent $20 on a wooden wrist rest that is custom made to fit a 60% board.

I only use it at work because I bought it to make the volumes of shizz I produce a lot easier to do and feel better on my hands and wrists. I have it paired with a stylish (imho) Elecom Nendo Kasane mouse. Gotta want to sit and type all day every day.

Currently not really playing video games, aside from mobile sessions on Alto on the tram. I mostly play trucks with my kid. He goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and we move stuffed animals around in the trucks. Fun shit. But like I said, these keyboards are durable. The Pok3r has an aluminum body with no little feet to flap out and snap off. When I build my Doom 4 system, you can bet your ass I'll dedicate a layer of programming to pwning bishez Doom 3 style.

Yeh... working for a big bureaucracy requires me to use Sharepoint, which our ITC people don't support in any browser but IE. Sometimes I even have strange connectivity issues and the fix is to reboot and immediately open IE to connect our global shares. There is also a system-wide HR application that only works (haha) in IE.

And no, no keypad. I am trying not to acquire big things and I read that the tenkey-less (TKL) keyboards reduce fatigue further by lessening the distance your arm moves to use your mouse. Win-win. I have found it to also be great for traveling, as I don't have to sit so close to my laptop screen, can elevate my laptop or turn it so colleagues can work collaboratively or even totally ditch the laptop.

Here I am staying ahead of the curve by working in the Brussels airport:

It didn't really bother me until I got the Pok3r. I just never thought about it. But now, I have a different, thoughtful approach to the physical input. It has helped me be more accurate and faster. The combos are becoming second nature. Its fun.

It's really different because I could change it. I could go to clears. When I really get going, I bottom out the browns. This is why I want a programmable ~85% with the clears.

Plus on my desk...

MagicForce on Massdrop right now for cheap...

Also a sick bluetooth varmilo bluetooth.

Skav... if you really need the ten-key pad, there are quite a few that are separate from the keyboard. This shit gets cray!

Oh man I was having a crazy weekend and got a little fizzed up and bought a 40% Vortex Core with mx clears on massdrop.

I am telling myself if I don't like the small size or the clears, I can just sell it for the price I paid.

But I am hella looking forward to typing on it.

That review is even better if you read it in STFU's voice.

Fancy new keyboard foiled by TWO HOURS OF MS WIN10 bullshit. And an ant infestation.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think one of these would look so hot paired up with my new MacBook Pro.

Wait. No I didn't. I was thinking I wanted a corn dog.
