i was amazed at the banning of wild beast by americans. that was a revelatory moment, and the beginning, I thought, of a new kind of barbarism.

...all justifications aside, I thought his vulgarity was a perfect kind of snarling dog sort of freedom. we have all been to the point of self loathing, anticipating what the other may say wrong before s/he even says anything, where we are angry before we even know why we are getting angry. but rage is a way of getting into the moment, so it suffices.

i wish our culture were more sustaining. i wish there were more rocks and cliffs around here. i wish the world were better.
