Ain't no cholla back y'all... fuckin' wall of cactus looming on my ride this morning. So smoky you can barely see the Catalinas.

Singletrack so good you just breathe that shit and go.

Where the trail pics at? I can just keep posting cactus. Nbd.

Another quick 11 miles this morning. I'd share a pic but it's just more desert and I was going too fast to pull out the phone. I did see a dang 1 m tall jackrabbit. Crazy.

Do y'all even ride?

Look at that stubby little stem! Do you even have a stem?!? Do all modarn mtbs have this tiny stem?

That is a nice lookin' singletrack. I'd ride 8 miles of that.

I am interested in this new school geometry but remain slightly unconvinced in the speed.

Would try it in my endless cactus garden.

Really? I feel like I'm more willing to slow down a little on the downhill if I could get a bit more power on the upside of the arroyo. I guess I get the advantages of bigger diameter wheels, wider tubeless tires and no front derailleur, but it seems like I always get stuck behind these slow guys on squishy newschool bikes when all I want to do is rip. I'd love to do a lap on a 29er Karate Monkey just to see if that 29er hardtail is the next evolution for me. Also... it is time I acquire a bicycle with disc brakes. That seems fun.

I like faster, but also like the idea of smoothing out the bumps with a bigger diameter wheel.

Got out today for a quick six before class.

Yeh I look at the lineup of Specialized bikes and the Fuse looks badass but jesus pushing 2.8s around the dirt seems like a bit much. The Chisel looks nimble.

Skills and suspension aren't mutually exclusive, but I can see how you get there given the way most chuckleheads ride.

mountainz wrote:And I think this sentiment is also partly what is driving the industry away from enduro and into gravel. The pendulum is swinging back.

I beg to differ. Gravel bikes are for people who want to mountain bike but can't, which makes sense if you're in, like, Iowa and gravel roads are all you've got. I mostly see people get gravel bikes who are a) not really trail riding and maybe using them for mixed terrain rides or hella lowkey bike packing or b) just too big a pussy to actually ride trails.

Oh man I thought gravel bikes were like for peeps who like to do distance but not on like tiny tiny tires because the roads are bad or they live in places with dirt roads. Now I see that these gravel bike piece of shit douchebags are totally ruining bicycles for everyone else by being total ASSHATS. Fuck these guys. Gravel bike PUSSIES.

Thanks joy for bringing that to my attention. Hope you're staying safe and well and riding trails. Ride all the trails.

More miles, more smiles. Right behind me in this pic, like no more than 100 feet back, is a row of new houses in a nice suburban subdivision. I wonder if you could make money on bike-in/bike-out airbnb in destination mtb zones. More likey the place gets trashed. Wheee!

The time to ride 34 miles is a luxury. Hope there was some singletrack in there.

At some point, I decided I had to see for myself what stepping forward the full 20 years in bike tech feels like. And it feels weird man. Big balloony tires and crazy brakes. Dropper post wtf. I am lovin' the responsive 1x drivetrain and how the rear shock gets the bike in the air so easily. Only did a few miles this afternoon and the verdict is MOAR TESTING IN THE MORNING.

New bike day so sweet. Had to share.

Full bounce has made a lot of trails that suck ass on a hardtail fun to ride again.
