I don't want to start a shitstorm but in the work arena where your notebook has to start up and do its job EVERY FUCKING TIME reliably, as in, for example, the production world, MAC is king. It's kinda hard to explain to a production manager that your computer has crashed and you need to sort it out when every minute you are down costs the company thousands of dollars.

I saw this happen this week at work. The douchey photog that BET had employed to take pictures on set was using a PC and he couldn't for the life of him get his PC started. Couldn't even get it going in safe mode. The picture he took was required in the monitor for a gag in the next shot and he wasted about fifteen to twenty minutes finding a mac user on set to save his ass. Turns out that the event pushed us into overtime and the production manager had to pay TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE overtime for an hour to the tune of fifteen thousand dollars. That was his last gig for BET.

The kind of reliability you get from a MAC can save your job, especially for a person like me who doesn't know nor desire to learn the ins and outs of LINUX or some other tech-nerd OS.

The 600 or so extra bucks you spend for this peace of mind kind of outweighs the negatives. Plus it looks sexy as hell.... HAHA

Flame suit on.

Macs don't do that.

Set up a cheap/low-end SRAM drivetrain last night on a commuter I'm building up. Followed the direx and shit just works first time, no fiddling. Modern Shimano cheap stuff is almost as easy. This technology blows my mind... back in the day, 70s and then 80s when I got my first mountain bike, cheap components meant constant fuckery, and expensive components meant regular fuckery. Very similar to the OS world in the past 15 years.

As a counterpoint, the free Hayes HFX 9 brakes that a guy gave me for it are utter crap. I got them working OK, but what a pain.

If you own this Huffy bike, you should be aware that at any moment "the bicycle crank can unexpectedly come off, causing the rider to lose control, fall and suffer serious injuries."

Holy shit that really is just like running a PC (which runs windows).

edit: Also, it's amazing that a 40lb bike can be manufactured and assembled in China, shipped thousands of miles over the ocean and sold at Wal-Mart for $30.

is the SRAM stuff that good? how intuitive is the bigpush/little push thing on the road shifters?

shimano 105 front shifter down for the count today. they say 285$ for one! apparently they break very easily, and are more substantial than ultegra or dura ace, which break also.

or alternatively, do i really need a little ring up front?

idk about road but for mtb, yes, the shimano is not as good.

the X9 is lighter, stronger, better and cheaper. and the best part is they force you to switch everything on your bike to comply with that one mf shifter component.

shimano saint stuff is redic and cool but way expensive.

I still don't understand how those hipsterfagz stop superquick with no brakes. I've tried and failed so hard.
