I made that custom bike frame, rack, decaleur, cable hanger etc. and did the box lining. It has a dynamo front hub with integrated lights and internal wiring... The rim is going on a close copy of this one but for me. The tires are very fast and so cushy.

Word. Been looking for a RB-T, but rare... so might go surly cross check, or maybe alu/carbon with fender/rack mounts. My track bike sucks for steep mountain climbs and won't take knobbies, racks, or the like...

Fuji Cross Pro

or

Surly Cross Check

About the same price (fuji is on clearance). Both have rack and fender mounts, though the Fuji is 7lbs lighter with Sram Force instead of Shimano Sora/Tiagra on the surly. The Fuji rides stiff and strong, but may be harsh for long rides. The utility and steel indestructibility of the cross check make it a contender. I like the way the frame flexes and torques when I'm cranking hard out of the saddle. The Fuji feels like I might snap it off at the head tube if I go hard.

Either would serve my purposes (commuting like a boss, messenger work, with mountain road rides for fun...).

Damn, I'm almost thinking about buying the Fuji, sell the alu/carbon frame, and build a cross-check up with the parts!

This will primarily be my subaru bike, as I kick ass all over the place on the dry with my Jamis Sputnik reynolds steel ec70 forked ss masher... the porshe.

Can't put racks and fenders on it tho. I guess I can put a straw basket on the bars.

I had never even considered the possibility of a ss cyclocross bike. Thanks for that. Scav you have expanded my mind.

Beyond any of how it looks and even the potential usefulness of it and all, bottle racks don'tbelong on cyclocross bikes. Unless they are fsatened to bar ends; that could be awesome.

Surly's are cooler yes, but the fuji looks ready to race. Why not put slope on a top tube?

Sure you can. Carbon fenders are nice. Stem to dropout mounted racks are strong.
toivo wrote:Why not put slope on a top tube?

Cause level top tubes look better. Bar end bottle cages are gnarr.

How bout a foot horn?

Yea, you can take off the bosses for racing if that's your thing. That frame has some slick fender mounts too. If you're only racing for an hour and handups are an option there's really no need.
