We turned our cable off 4 months ago and use Hulu/iTunes, football season will be the biggest test. Not spending $140/month with comcast rules, choppy non-HD programming on your 52" HDTV does not rule. Good luck.

no tv since 1994. feeling well adjusted to myself if not to society. that and the fact that if entering into an artificial reality probably best to be able to pick the program.

not.
seriously, why would you pay (A LOT) for something wrought with invasive advertisements, when you can get it free without ads on the internet?

though i haven't researched it out myself, how much are you looking to save per month going from (presumably) internet + cable service to internet alone? i was under the impression that the cost of the single service, ie internet, is higher than what you would pay for internet in the combination service? i'd consider it myself seeing how i live within a 3 mile line-of-sight from my local transmitters unobstructed and can get better OTA high-def broadcast stations than what is provided by the cable service.

Also cable free and using Hulu + Netflix. Also got an HD antenna that picks up local HD channels for free. Lets you watch some sports. Never giving money to Comcast again.

Do you pay for Hulu Plus or just use regular Hulu?

Then it's likely Comcast is or will be getting some of your money. Hulu hosts shows from NBC, Comcast and NBC merger/acquisition. Tentacles, man. They're everywhere.

Cable TV is a waste of infrastructure. Watching programs at a set time with a ridiculously high number of advertisements sucks. Most networks put their cool programming on the tubes for free with minimal advertisements.
It's a relatively new technology though. It'll get mucked up soon enough. Torrents with a healthy dose of not being a stupid dumbass are almost always the best solution that probably won't last for long in its present form either.

And one of the best ways to show how popular a show might be while helping get it canceled. STEALING shows isn't helping. You bad, bad thief. Think of the actors! Or the guys doing the lights. They need your money.

Slim can sukit.
Really though, framing it as OMG STEALING dodges the issue just as hard as OMG IT WANTS TO BE FREE! Not that you don't know this. It's just that I hate you.

I don't really need super-3d-cablevision. Hulu seems like a decent option, though I'd like to just turn on the tv when i get home and watch seinfeld or wake up and check out traffic and news without breaking out the laptop. I've thought about those $200 antennas, but am pretty sure it won't work considering I live in an apt. that faces the inside of the complex on the 2nd floor of a 4 story building. weird huh?
