so there's an outbreak of Degue Fever in P.R.

one of the biggest surf stars in the world gets so sick while in P.R. that he can't compete in the contest that he's in P.R. for in the first place and then somehow he's allowed to get on a plane to go back to Hawaii?

then, when he gets to Dallas, he's too sick to get on a plane - so what happens?

one of the biggest surf stars in the world goes back to a hotel to die?

somebody must be fucking retarded - at any point here he could have been taken to a hospital where some professional and timely help probably would have saved his life.

even if one of the biggest surf stars in the world is the one that was ultimately retarded - isn't there like a team manager, ASP pro tour manager, quicksilver, billabong, wife, anybody with enough sense to put two and two together to not let this dude get on a plane and send him to the fucking hospital?

Dengue is endemic in PR, cases happen all the time.

That sucks so hard and is difficult to stomach. My mom once had a case of dengue so bad that she said she felt as if she was sweating blood.

Update indicates that (sadly) it might not have been dengue fever that killed him.
They're now investigating it as a possible overdose.
