RIP Computer, I will miss you

Figured I'd ask around these parts since some of you seem to know what the fuck you are talking about where computers are concerned. Yesterday my 3 year old laptop which had been fine until yesterday died. Unslept it, keyboard was locked but mouse/internet browser worked fine, restarted and then nada. The damn thing won't even get to the window's load screen. Fan fires up, lights are on, power to the monitor briefly, then a quick flash of power to the monitor again and then darkness. The hard drive light will flash, but not remotely normally. Also the keyboard can only sometimes be used to light up capslock, the wi fi light flashes briefly. This cycle will repeat for as long as you leave the power on.

Basically, is my shit dead? Hard drive toasted? Anything a semi-competent person could kinda figure out, or is this one for the pro's?
