With all this talk about OMG WHO WILL WIN A GRAMMY between Kendrick and Macklemore, I think My Name Is My Name by Pusha T is the 2013 goodness and worth a listen....

i am comforted by the conformity of hipsters.

this is pretty much an anti-Thanksgiving song; not super pleasant, but an honest expression of certain underlying antagonisms:

I got real into Chance after the shine of Pusha T dulled. I think his lyrics are good and the beats are great, but I heard him freestyle for one of those radio shows and it was just verses from Acid Rap. I want the next mixtape, but I think he is too busy cashing in on his 10 Day suspension to create. We'll see what his next jams bring to see if he has sticking power. He at least collaborates with some talent like the Bronsolino. Its listenable but yeh whiny at times.

Gambino I am less into. I like Royalty but this S T N M T N mix tape where he imagines he is a (mediocre) thug from ATL does a disservice to the vast, talented ATL scene. And dreaming you are a thug doesn't make you hard, Mr. Sitcom.

I've been tuning out office noise lately with more abstract hip hop/trip hop like Gasoline and Quantic but I need lyrics in mah hopz.

Joey Bada$$ 1999 has a good old school feel to it. I'm on that a bit.

And then there's this... for what it is...

Also, I gotta peep some full albums from the underachievers tomorrow since I appreciate your hip hop ethic but forgot their name today and don't log into b.com at work anymore.

What is a good starting point?
