A dude at LRC recommended I check out the Avett Brothers at SXSW - they're not actually playing SXSW, but they aren't too bad:

CARACAS, Venezuela — Some here joke that they might be safer if they lived in Baghdad. The numbers bear them out.

KIX - have you heard of the Pimps of Joytime? Nothing to do with dubstep.

the Blues are timeless, but that does not mean you should live in the past.

unfair. league of his own.

I think Gary Clark Jr. has flashes of Robin Trower since you seem to prefer some referential connection to the past.
I'm too busy to go find you a robin trower video. go fish.

funny, GCJr had me thinking a little Trower, but his voice really made me think Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.

the thing is - as a blues guitar freak - when i noticed all the GCJr. hype, i was excited to think there might be something new under the sun, but was pretty disappointed when i heard/saw him perform. Probably makes sense that Clapton is one of his fans. I really like the guys guitar sound (and that he plays an Epiphone just like me), but he's got no swagger. Totally whitebread. Dan Auerbach is blacker than Mr. Clark Jr.

Dude .. BTW .. I like CGJr .. he's decent. HOwever, I'm pissed that they teamed him up with Doyle and HE makes the Crossroads video and not Doyle. What the hell man? The music industry just keeps shitting on DBII.

I love you Doyle.
