i never really liked skrillex until i learned of his ability to infuriate pretentious dubstep fans.

but hating on dubstep is like hating on pop music, you think you look cool, but really you just end up looking desperate for attention.

actually i've grown to like the "whomp"....... in moderation. plus the ladies don't mind grinding to it.

I can certainly understand why you'd think that if all you've heard is Skrillex and his ilk. But if you listened to a bit of Burial, or early Skream, Benga, Mala or Kode9, then I think maybe you'd see some of the appeal.

I can certainly understand why you'd think that if all you've heard is Justin Timberlake and his ilk. But if you listened to a bit of Jason Mraz, or early Weezer, John Mayer, Phil Collins or Billy Ray Cyrus, then I think maybe you'd see some of the appeal.

All your musics suck.

its all about super digital futurehouse ambientrancefunk

probably not a single live musician or real instrument.
I believe that makes all the difference.

better music through 01010101111001.

well i mean, isn't that pretty much how dubstep happens? hitting random on your digital wavetable synth bullshit, randomly filtering some shitty samples you may or may not have recorded yourself and then smashing to the two together?

the funny thing about that is .. .Someone has to play something at some point .. or sing something at some point, or there would be nothing to sample? no sounds for a synthesizer to copy?
And if you prefer to listen to what amounts to the image of music than you are like the man chained to a rock in Plato's cave, staring at the shadow of music, cast by a flame behind what really is music, and believing that shadow to be music.

deeeeeep.

well..to be fair..I was mainly referring to the non-dubstep artists mentioned and such contributions above.

then sharing a favorite new song, I've been liking stripped down beats with funk samples lately.

and then laughing at myself for bagging on real musicians while promoting digital creations.

dubstep is nothing more than mashed up Jungle and Speed Garage and offers nothing new to the world beyond a fun new video style.
just another niche electronic music fad soon to fade. no loss.
