kill me now

Postby RockPharmer » Tue Sep 01, 2009 3:09 pm

i get to spend most of next week in scotsdale. given no opportunity to escape to flag (the outside possibility of which was honestly the only reason i took this assignment), what am i in for? any suggestions on what to check out?

Grilled stuff at Roka Akor
Pizza at Pizzeria Bianca
Beers at Roosevelt Tavern
Al Pastor at El Nopalito

Basically - eat, drink and wait to get back on the plane is all I can advise.
Oh... and avoid Old Town Scottsdale at ALL COSTS.

Pony up for the short cabride down to Four Peaks or Casey Moore's in Tempe and take in the new semester views.

Skip roka akor4sure. I've never felt as jipped in my entire life as I did when the check came at roka.

Cowboy Ciao is pretty good - it's right next door to Sea Saw and is owned by the same folks.

Hit up Le Grande Orange for breakfast. The espresso is more miss than hit, but you kind of can't beat house-made english muffins.

Persian Room for dank middle eastern food.

I also like to cruise over to north Tempe and hit up Udupi for hole-in-the-wall vegetarian/vegan Indian food, but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

STFU is telling me to add DeFalco's to the list for lunch.

Also, don't get your hopes up for Pizzeria Bianca (which is downtown phx, not Scottsdale). It's as notorious for 2-4 hour waits as it is for the apparently ungodly delicious pizza.

there are only two good things about the Valley: good food and the I-17, which takes you to Flagstaff.

Climbing implications, bad.

Drought implications, good.

OK, so if i landed in PHX at 6.30 in the evening on tuesday and drove to flag that night, is anyone willing to provide a place to crash and tour the following morning (wednesday morning assault)? in exchange for lunch? and copious gratitudes? need to be back to the suck by 3PM. PMs are fine if you are ashamed to put a schmuck like me up for the night.

please??
