Actually, Obama's policy is a weird mixture of socialism and economic fascism.
Yes, the public wants a certain amount of government spending. The role of the Federal government is clearly defined and limited in the constitution. This was done for a good reason.
Even before Obama "earned" the votes of a bunch of fashion-concious youngsters living in a phenomenally successful and free country, he bitched, on the record, about how the constitution is flawed, and how the bill of rights sucks because it limits, rather than empowers, a centralized federal government.
As bad as Bush was, McCain would have been worse. Obama is worse than both of them put together. He was able to pass the Recovery Act. He looked us right in the eyes the next day, and proclaimed that it was "free of pork and earmarks". Anybody that believes him is indeed a shit eater. If he's successful with the Energy Act, and the Healthcare Reform Act, as they are written now, he will be the most disasterous prez in history.
By the way, how are his promises on leaving Iraq treating you?
How about his promise for a new era of transparency, you know, the promised 5-day public review of any major legislation?
How do you like how he's handled his promise to end warrentless wiretapping?
How about his statement that, under this health care act, we can still have private health insurance?
What's your assessment of how the closing of Gitmo is going?
How about his promise that no american, making less that 250K will see an increase in "any taxes", "not a dime!"
That is a lot of shit to eat.
I didn't vote for McCain, but if it was even close in this state, I would have.
