Newsflash.

I could pay off that camera in a week with the work I could do with it. That thing shoots HD better than 100k studio rigs. The cost is a pittance if your alternative is a $1000/day rental fee for a RED or something similar.

That camera costs as much as my camera, but the lens switch would have hosed me, but I seriously considered it... What they're not talking about is how expensive all the glass is that they are using...

Merock the canon primes are similar in cost to the Nikon primes, plus the Mark2 has an adapter that allows you to use Panavision Cinema Primes on this body. $5k lenses but you can rent the lens package for a few hundred a day if you get a large job etc.

The one thing I WILL say is that when you shoot at 20mp+ lens deficiencies become VERY apparent. Even the fast primes become useless towards either aperture extreme if you are going for maximum fidelity. I think most of the commercial applications of the Mark2 and Canon primes shoot at f8 to f11 where the lens is performing at its best (sharpest). Couple that to the fact that Canon wide lenses are behind Nikon wide lenses in sharpness, and well... More and more people are starting to use Nikon lenses on the Canon bodies using a lens adaptor.

Even though you didn't go through with it, a serious consideration of a Canon body from a Nikon fanboy (I kid!) is a heck of an endorsement.

According to the twitters, they used "all the canon primes" and the 24-70 and 70-200. I'll assume by ALL they only mean the L series. That seems like a lot of lenses, though. Maybe he meant "just canon primes" to confirm it wasn't any Tamron-esque lenses? I wonder if Canon gave them the gear for this as a means to advertise the awesomeness of this camera.

Peeman I think it's more likely they wanted people to be aware they shot the episode on canon primes instead of the more expensive and sharper Zeiss primes like this one. 15mm 2.8 costing $5k:

"All canon primes" is just something they said to get all the fanboiz on the intertubez frothed up over what is basically just another episode of a crappy show.

What's wrong with a show that uses the same plot template for every episode? Why the hate? Also, can't you understand this is GROUNDBREAKING?!@@#@!

Well, it was the video and at the time when they released the camera, Nikon didn't have a 24mm PC lens, which they do now, which I still don't have.....
