so, since i built this thing i've moved from the base of an awesome canyon climb and now live downtown in the flats.

my question is:

since i never ride this up hills anymore,

do i turn it in to a fixie

so i'll ride it around town?

You can ride a multi-geared bike around town. Keep it as is.

i know this is true,

but i feel like i spend the entire time coasting to stop signs and then braking with crappy brakes.

plus i want to sit more upright.

i also considered converting to North Roads type handles.....

cav got off easy.. few scrapes and bruises.. and some fines and penalties for causing the whole thing. one of the guys behind him broke his hip, another broke a collarbone i think.

broken wheel was a result of the crash.. not the other way around. Cav didn't hold his line and crashed into Haussler who then ran over his wheel. not many things react well to being crashed at 40 mph

almost got killed yesterday by an EMT car that went through a red light without it's siren on. couldn't see it's flashing lights due to a building on the corner. fucking almost crapped my spandex shorts...

A few miles into my ride, ran over a road artifact of doom that tore a hole in my ARMADILLO KEVLAR tire. Stupid.

Cops in Chicago are notorious for this shit. They'll be flying down the road with maybe their lights flashing and then do a BLOOP BLOOP with their horn when already in the intersection. Stupid.

i would have appreciated a bloop bloop of the horn. no horn, siren, no sound making of any kind going through a blind red light. unfuckingbelievable...

What was your evasive maneuver? Drop slide under the body of the ambalamps ala Hollywood? That gets extra points.
