#3 for Australia was fucking AWFUL.
Honestly, I don't think I saw him actually in position more than 3 or 4 times in the match.
Damn.

Now... to be fair, that red card on Cahill was weak. Terrible decision by the ref.

We took our best player and talisman, Timmy Cahill, and played him out of position at striker, while our two strikers sat on the bench (and one got left out of the squad). We KEPT trying to play the offside trap in defense, despite the fact that Germany kept beating it, again and again. Brett Emmerton played a cracking game down the right hand side, but whenever he whipped in a cross there was only ever one Australian player amongst four German defenders. We were lucky to only concede four, frankly. What makes it worse is that I had to get up at 4.30 am to watch that garbage.

Cahill's red was ridiculous. You see worse in the EPL not even get a yellow. That wasn't why we lost though.

Schweinsteiger has come out and said that Cahill's tackle wasn't a red card, so hopefully he'll only miss one game. Losing 4-0 sucks, but it's not really that different to losing 1-0. Either way we'd need to beat both Serbia and Ghana to go through.

i know it's been a long time since i played,

but the way i remember it was

that losing 4 to zip

was four times worse than losing

1 to zip.

but, yeah,

a loss is a loss

and i'm really mad about losing right now!

and yet the brits were coming studs up at the the american players all night long, but were lucky just to get a free kick. the tackle on howard was disgusting. lack of consistent officiating imo.

Hesky had every right to go for that ball.
I'm not a fan of Hesky but that was clean.

except for the whole studs in the air part. keepers may be over protected, but there's already been a precedent set (on much lesser challenges) that that was a bookable offense. it was outright dangerous.

I've always felt that if I met rockpharmer in person, we would both be in golf attire.

yeah def not a red card for Cahill, also i know Italy isn't what they were, but the choice of some of the starters for that game today was odd at best
