I always said I'd never date a non-climber (after some "Oh, now we're dating, so you'll quit climbing and just go to the movies with me, right?" kind of guys). Now I'm married to a non-climber. But he's a cyclist. So the time we're not together (most evenings and weekends), he's on a bike, and I'm climbing. He gets the madness and obsession. And the bitchiness that comes out when I haven't touched rock in too long. Cause he's the same way on a bike. So when he's moody, I tell him to go for a spin. When I'm moody, he tells me to go climb.
The only weird part was when we started dating and he didn't really know my male climbing friends. So it was the "Why would you rather spend your weekend with him than with me?" Now that he knows them really well though, he understands that it's not the guy that I want, it's the rock.
