how it is possible to "close" a boulder is beyond me.
self-regulation within a community is one thing, as in, say, let's not scrub that rare lichen or climb into a raven's nest. claiming proprietary advantage over a boulder though seems like a misplaced ethic and unjust claim.
maybe if you put that boulder there, you can say who climbs it or not; but otherwise consent not to climb is a right not cheerfully surrendered.
